Guide

The Judeo-Slavic Studies web community is intended to serve as a discussion forum for all topics connected to Jewish-Slavic interaction. A categorized list of current topics may be found on the Subjects page.

In addition, this site serves as an informational portal for the announcement of events and fellowships in the field and allows for the posting of pre-publication materials and ongoing projects.

Participation in the web community is invited and may assume either of the following forms:
     1) Anyone may comment on an existing post without special registration. Simply navigate to the relevant page and use the Comment form at the bottom of the post. For example, if you wish to add an item to the Bibliography of Jews in Eastern Europe prior to the 15th century, please post your bibliographic addition via the comment box at the bottom of that page. The same applies if you wish to respond to another author's post about any subject.
     2) Those wishing to post original content (rather than merely responding to existing posts) must first register by contacting the moderators. You may contact the moderators at any time (in English, Hebrew, Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, French, German, or Spanish) by using the contact box located in the margin of every page on the site. At this time, registration requires a Google account. The moderators are also available to receive suggestions and to help with any other questions concerning participation in the web community.

When posting new content, please select all relevant topics ('labels') from the already existing list seen when creating a new post. A list of labels with explanations follows below. If your post requires another label that does not yet exist, please create it and inform the moderators.

Once again, if you are responding to an existing post (material already present on the website), please do so via the comment box at the bottom of the relevant page.

The following labels help to categorize the site's material and keep the discussions organized:
